I am SO excited to announce that I am moving on to a new opportunity at Capella. I am moving to a Dissertation Advisor position. I will be working solely with learners who are working on their dissertations. I am really happy that professional development at Capella is highly supported and encouraged. This hasn’t always been my experience and I very much enjoy challenging myself and building my skills. I move to my new position on September 22nd. I love that I will no longer need to work a late night, evenings, and am able to maintain my early schedule. God is good and I am grateful for this new journey I am going to take.

What brought you gratitude today?

Today was an interesting day….my day at work went very quickly (thank you to many meetings) but the evening went nice and slowly. Love when this happens, however rare. The element of time is an odd dimension for me. At times I want it to move quickly and other times times moves too slowly. The trick is to be happy right here and right now despite where I am, where I was, and where I want to be. I’m thankful for the that attitude because at times it can be a challenge.

What brought you gratitude today?

Today, I received the results of the 360 degree feedback I had requested from my teammates. Some of the information was a little surprising but nothing out of line. It was so heartfelt to hear feedback from others who I spend so much waking hours with. The impact that I seek to make is occuring and I am proud of that. My purpose is being lived and I could not be more grateful of this opportunity.

Who makes an impact in your life?

Today, our family was honored to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of my aunt Shirley and uncle John. It was the perfect day for a loving celebration and am so grateful to spend the time together with family, hearing stories of days past, and being reminded of dear memories. So many memories with the family and at the house in which my mother grew up in. Was thankful to be part of such a gorgeous event.

How did you spend this amazing Sunday?

Oh Saturdays…..how I love you! Sleep, lazy coffee mornings and no plans to leave the house. I spent a wonderful morning homework session, a little cleaning, more homework, dinner with the fam, and movie night. Couldn’t have asked for a better day. Am grateful for days when all goes well and is productive.

How was your Saturday?

TGIF…..another week down and another start to the weekend. I spent time last evening getting an early start to a paper due Sunday and it feels great to start this Friday feeling well rested and motivated. I’m thankful to feel this energetic and am going to capitalize on it.

What has brought you thanks on this fabulous Friday?

Ran an errand with my best girl today and enjoyed one of many fascinating conversations. It’s interesting to experience life through a ten year old little lady. We talk about the economy, politics, the environment, humanity, animal conservation, and ethics. All topics most 10 years talk about…..well, we talk about boys, and music, and jewelry too but I love expanding her outlook on the world around her. She is such a joy in my life and I’m grateful for time with her.

Who in your life, do you consider extra special?

Good news….love good news. I’ve been waiting to hear a decision made for a few weeks and today it came. I’m grateful for good news and change. More details to come.

What good news did you hear today?

What a gorgeous almost Fall day. The weather was gorgeous, I was well rested, the day was really productive, and enjoyed seeing all of the back to school pictures from the little ones on social media. Anticipation of what fall brings is in the air…bonfires, fall leaves, cool weather. sweatshirts, and snuggly movie nights.

All went well today…..until the little pup got sick and needed the vet. She came happy as a clam and for that I am extremely grateful.

How was your official first day of Fall?

I spent another relaxing day today….except for a few hours helping someone move. It was nice to take a break from work and school and just have another day of rest after the weekend. Oh the joys of 3 day weekends…..one day! I’m grateful for these long weekends and more time off.
