Yay for motivation! I am finally feeling inspired to write and continue work on my chapter two of the dissertation. It was a rough and tough load over the summer and taking time away from writing has been a godsend. I am back and feeling ready to attack my literature review. I am grateful to feel energetic and ready to return. May this feeling continue…..

What feelings are you grateful for?

Good morning and Happy Monday beautiful people. I am excited to start a new week and continue enjoying a break from the course work. I am especially thankful that the new book I am looking to read is available at the library near my home. I just love the library and don’t spend nearly enough time there. I love how quiet it is and how many materials there are to get lost into.

What simplicity are you grateful for today?

After working 60 hours this week I needed a day of relaxation and today was just that! I spent some time with family, reading the Sunday paper with coffee (one of my fav’s), a little nap, and lots of time doing nothing! I am SO thankful to have a day of no plans so that I can spend time renewing. Am starting week 2 at the new job and expect to be another week of intense learning sessions. I am grateful though….growth doesn’t occur unless we’re challenged, correct?

How did you spend this lovely Sunday?

Oye, I did it…….I worked 16 hours yesterday and am so thankful I had the energy to do so. I was able to pick up a quick two day job working an Oktoberfest celebration (thank you to my sister!). It was a long day including a full shift at the day job and then another eight hour shift working the celebration. I am SO thankful for these kinds of opportunities as it allows me to save additional funds (which will be especially helpful for my upcoming travels to Houston and Chile’.)

What kinds of opportunities are you especially grateful for?

I am REALLY enjoying my break from my courses and spent almost two hours on personal reading. While I feel guilty at times spending time on personal reading, my mother recently reminded me that to become a better writer, reading is essential. My next read – Malcom Gladwell’s David and Goliath. I do very little personal reading (other than magazines) while my quarter is active. Breaks are that much sweeter because I am able to engage in some of my personal interests I am not able to as my priorities are my school work. I’m thankful for breaks from my coursework.

What book are currently reading?

PS-The Alchemist was an excellent and very quick read. If you have not read it yet-please take a gander. It is full of wisdom, written over 20 years ago, and is timeless.

Lately, I have been thinking a great deal about what the next two years of my professional life will look like. I am grateful, excited, and satisfied with my new role but am curious at the number of opportunities having my DBA will provide me. I’ve reached out to a few potential mentors (both with PhD’s or DBA’s) and both responded to me with their willingness to provide professional guidance. I’m really excited at the possibilities, advice, and networking that is ahead of me. Finally, I am thankful both responded and offered their assistance.

Who assists you professionally?

A lot of learning this week with the new job. There are a lot of details that I am trying to take in and process. It’s been a wonderful Thankfully, my new team mates have been patient, helpful, and willing to allow me to spend time overseeing their work. I feel grateful for the helpful nature of my new team. Thank you!

Who is helpful to you?

Day two of the new job and I cannot be more grateful. I feel like I hit the cubicle lottery. My cubicle is directly in front of a row of windows that provides so much sun I almost need sunglasses. My schedule is something I establish and I am more in control of my workflow than ever before. My cube mates are wonderful and so talented. While, I miss my PSL team, but am still in contact with many of them. I treasure opportunities and know they are a part of my overall plan and purpose.

What opportunity are you grateful for?

Today, my new journey at Capella began. I have accepted a position as a Dissertation Advisor. I work in a new department on a new team and am very excited (and a little nervous) for this new role. Change management has always been a challenge for me, but I am much better at transitions, less vocal, and really try to focus on the positive. I’m grateful to work for a corporation that deeply supports professional development. I am thrilled to joining a team where I can utilize my purpose and contribute in different ways.

What brought you gratitude today?

Another day very low key day…..gosh, I really like those kinds of days. I started reading The Alchemist and loved spending time alone, with the windows open, enjoying a beautiful Sunday. I;m grateful to have another weekend day to enjoy the peace and continue to renew.

What about your Sunday were you thankful for?
