365 Days of Gratitude – Day 30

30 Saturday Nov 2013

Today was a pretty uneventful day and I loved every minute of it. Am grateful that I had very little responsibility today.  Just love those kinds of days.

Am also grateful for a movie date with my youngest nephew. Monsters University and Planes was on tap and was a lot of fun. We talked about what he is grateful for and with so much wisdom for an eight year old stated: family,  food,  and friends. He’s such a sweetie. So glad he’s a part of my life.

Who are you grateful for in your life?

Happy Friday.  If you went out Black Friday shopping I hope you were able to score some great deals.  I love a good deal and would usually take part in the shopping but am going for a different vibe year.  More to share later.

Am grateful today for time with a wonderful friend and her family.  I cherish our relationship and enjoy watching her son grow and her develop into such an amazing mom.  Just adore her!

Am also appreciative that a loved one (of my sister) is doing well after a health scare today.  She is a dear and do important to many,  knowing she will be OK is so nice to hear.

What are you appreciative today?

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 28 – Happy Thanksgiving

Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving!

I just knew that when I turned on my radio this morning this was the first song I heard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r28mcaJLUV4I just knew it was going to be a wonderful day and it was. I am thankful to be one of over 18,000 who took part in the Turkey Day 5k. It’s always fun to be out and about with so many others with such a fun event. I always look forward to the new design of our shirt and comparing past years of weather when it was far warmer or far colder than this year.

Today, more than any day, I am grateful for my life. I have amassed an amazing group of family and friends who are such a treasure in my life. Our experiences and memories we make is something I look forward today. It was especially nice because I didn’t fight with my brother at all-which seems to be a holiday tradition in itself. Love him though. Finished my evening sharing time with the Willis’ (minus Grandpa), but none-the-less was quite enjoyable and included some fabulous baby time!

Tomorrow is Black Friday and if you’re out and about please be patient. Others will appreciate that about you.

What a wonderful day being off of work and running errands. What a treasure that is when so many people are at work. It just makes it faster, more efficient, and just plain easier. I spent the afternoon with my best girl and it was wonderful to enjoy her humor and learn from her. We are more than ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow and more than anything else looking forward to spending time with family….lots of family.

Am also grateful for the opportunity to make my nephew’s favorite cake for his birthday. I enjoy doing things for people whom I love, especially making them their favorite treats. Am looking forward to tomorrow…traditions including the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, the Turkey Day 5k, lunch with family, riling through the newspaper for black Friday deals, time with the other side of the family, and a quiet evening. Sounds heavenly to me.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving Eve!

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 26

This week was a short week for me….only two days of work. If only every week could be like this. Maybe once school is finished. I’m grateful that I work for a company and am able to earn PTO. I take this seriously because so many people do not earn time off that is paid and must sacrifice income when they need to be away from work. I’m off for the next six days and am burning up earned PTO. I am only able to carry over forty hours into the next year and need to take time off or lose my time. You won’t catch me losing PTO. I earned it and will take every hour of it.

I’m also grateful this evening for getting a hard start on my weekend to do list. My thought that since I have six days off I would get a whole lot of those pesky things I’ve been putting off and accomplishing them. Tonight, I was able to mark off five items to that lengthy list and when I sleep in tomorrow I won’t have an ounce of guilt.

What are some to the ways you are grateful today?

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 25

25 Monday Nov 2013

Greetings and welcome to Day 25. They say that after 21 days you’ve/I’ve created a habit. This doesn’t feel like a habit…maybe because I tend to attach a negative connotation to habits. Anyway, it’s 25 of a 365 day journey and while I’ve understood the power of gratitude, I’m much more conscious of it and it’s role in my life. I hope you are finding that too. Even if you aren’t actively practicing gratitude.

Today, as in everyday, I’m grateful for a slue of items. Mostly, for time to extend my weekend, sleep in, work out at home, and come into work at 11. While most days I dread working until 8 on Monday’s I sure enjoy the extension of my weekend.

I am also quite thankful for little reminders that I come across that lead me to be even more aware than I am. I don’t believe in coincidences and believe everything happens for a reason (even if we don’t know that reason). Point being, I ran across an article on Facebook that is titled “Nurse reveals the top 5 regrets people make on their deathbed.” I recognize I’m young at 41 but with life experience and awareness I realize not everyone is afforded the gift of a long life. Read the article and think about how you might make adjustments in your life.  http://www.karenstan.net/2013/11/11/nurse-reveals-top-5-regrets-people-make-deathbed/

How can you avoid dying with regrets?

365 Days of Gratitude – Day 24

Today was an exceptional day.  Was able to sleep in and enjoy a homemade breakfast,  coffee, and the Sunday paper.  I love Sunday morning for that very reason.  Today,  I’m grateful for so many things: having a treadmill arty home and not needing to leave the house to exercise.  Love that!

Am mostly grateful for time with my son and his girlfriend.  Spent some quality with them and enjoyed seeing them both.  They are both such gems.  I’m thankful for his call and invitation to get together today.

Finally,  am grateful for the ability to use 2 coupons while out dining today.  Saved $19 and am thankful that I can use that savings towards another purpose.  May consider paying that purpose forward.

How is your weekend shaping up?

Happy Birthday to my sweet, funny, pretty, hardworking, and dear little sister. I love you more than words and today I am grateful for you. Grateful for your support, your always willing to help your big sister, and most off all, despite you thinking I’m weird you love me for me. I love you and treasure our relationship.

Am also grateful for lazy days. Today has been a lazy day and it’s been wonderful to lounge, enjoy peace, read, and run a few errands,

Here’s to a wonderful Saturday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Happy Friday beautiful people!

Today is Friday and while I usually really like Fridays, today I love Fridays. I’m grateful for a slower day and lots of breaks…..OK, not so many that I was not a great team member or not doing my job but enjoyed a lovely stroll to Starbuck’s and a resource fair. I love getting a break from the routine of the week.

Am also grateful for fun new music. I love music and you’ll see me include music from time to time. Today’s pleasure is a new ditty by Pharell Williams titled Happy. http://24hoursofhappy.com/

Enjoy!

Change is our only constant.  Everything changes whether we life it or not.  We can roll with the punches and be adaptable or we can complain about what what used to be.  We’re making some great changes at work.  Is exciting to be doing things differently and with new teams of people. I’m grateful that things are never boring and always keep us on our toes.

I’m also grateful for research.  I’m a participant in a monthly market research group. It’s a lot of fun to be an influence to aspects of the business that could affect over a million people. My feedback matters and I enjoy contributing in this manner.

In what ways does your feedback matter?
